I've always made an effort to have humorous voicemail messages, generally sung to the tune of a well-known song. This is a record of all the ones I remember, and the start of a collection of those I'll make in the future.
Commentary for Another version of the "Joy to the World":
Yes, people really were calling (and still are calling) for Christine and Jen. My phone service recycles numbers very quickly.
I've been venturing lately into the world of songwriting. I've been known to compose music in the past, but writing a symphony is very different (and to me, in more ways, easier) than writing something like a rock song.
Due to my compulsive need to edit and improve everything all the time, pretty much all of these are better considered works-in-progress. Also, several will probably have vague fragments of lines that haven't quite found their place in the song yet.
This is where I put ... other stuff. Actual original poetry, random bits of writing that I like, and the occasional editorial from back in my political weblog days. Expect no continuity whatsoever.
While I do write some ordinary poetry (which can be found in the "Other" series), the vast majority of my poetic writing would be better considered parody. I write parodies often, both of poetry and of songs (especially for my cell voicemail), and it generally takes me very little time. Like the other categories, these are in no particular order.
These are just assorted slam poems I've written -- like my Prose, they're not in any particular order. It's more of a performance medium, but I think they're fun to read, as well. While I have written a few of them on paper prior to performing them, more often I improvise them at open-mike slams, talk a friend into recording the show, and transcribe them later.
These various bits of prose don't really have a common theme, any rhymes or metric schemes, aren't in any particular order, and were all written within the past year or so.
This is the series in which goes the users daylogs, please keep non-daylogs out of here, and keep daylogs in here. Also, do not edit the title of this, or pieces in it will not be recognised as daylogs, thanks.
