The fates of a blood elf and a troll become entwined as they find themselves becoming involved in a seperate dream-world.

Commentary for Upon Meeting:

This shall be an on-going story. I'll write more installments later. Yes, one of my characters IS involved in this, though not a main character.

I sketched profile of what the Sparrow King's headdress looks like, which can be viewed here [img411.imageshack.us].

Oh, by the way. Sun'jin is pronounced "soon-jinn."

Also, for those of you not familiar with World of Warcraft, here are images of Mephit and Sun'jin for reference.

Mephit [img197.imageshack.us]

And, for good measure, a picture of a Wind Serpent [petopia.morrowind4kids.com].

I am working on a webcomic. I have scenes in my mind of things I want to happen, but it's much easier for me to write them down then to draw them. Many of these scenes happen very deep into the story, a long time after the beginning of the story.

So these are random excerpts from scenes in the story that help me to become familiar with the characters.

If they don't make any sense, sorry about that. :)

As I upload pieces, I will list something here about them in terms of summary and to their chronology to the main story.

The pieces are roughly listed top to bottom in order of chronology.

First Memory

Cherub's first memory waking up in Deepsol. This is a bit of an oldie, and I'll likely change the scene or rewrite this.

Tulluket's Duty for Lariot

Councilmember Tulluket assigns Lariot with a new job. This occurs several weeks into the Unseelie Revolution, and before Tulluket's full descent into madness.

Tulluket's Return to Evelyn

Tulluket returns to his wife Evelyn after going missing for a second time. This occurs after the fall of Deepsol, and after Tulluket has succumbed to insanity.

If it helps, here's a thesaurus of terms about the story that might help you understand things a little better.

Ilum - The world in which the story takes place. It is generally accepted that each of Ilum's seven suns are gods that govern life and creation.

Suns - Seven suns who are said to be Gods with power over Ilum. They are Anneh, Dawn, Termanis, Bies, Ransulu, Cannimus, and Shiren. Pale, bright Cannimus and spotted red Shiren are playful, flirting eclipse with all the other suns except the red, hateful giants, Termanis and Bies. Anneh is golden and warm, and Dawn is violet and shimmmering. Blue Ransulu is cautious and prefers to avoid eclipse, always alone in his own corner of the sky.

Deepsol - A city built within a hollowed mountain. While it does have entrances from the outside, it's famed for it exclusive access to the Grand Stair. Recently, Aria have been allowed to reenter and reside within Deepsol, but Unseelie are still banned because of the events of the Long Charge.

Council of Deepsol - The governing power of Deepsol, entrusted to five individual Men. Chosen by the Tylogonus, the original three are Aeacus Mennor, Drea Shaw, and Vaughn Shepherd. Added later to the council were Tulluket Morogh, and Andrei Quoia.

Grand Stair - A giant, spiraling stairway, several kilometers long, that leads to the depths of the underground. Encased in a wall of hardened mud and clay, it looks like a giant, twisted stalagmite. Many forts are built inside the stair to assure its security.

The Underground - An enormous, unnamed network of caverns. It's home to unspeakable creatures of horror, spawned by the more sinister gods of Ilum. It is also home to the Unseelie.

Men - Created by the sun god Anneh. Men are humanoids that are known for their endurance and resilience. They have tan complexions, and brown, red, or blond hair. They are the main power in Deepsol.

Aria - When some Men chose to follow the goddess Dawn, they experienced a dramatic change. Their skin grew much darker, and their eyes turned violet or red. They are most famous for their long, pointed ears. Entranced by Dawn's song, they named themselves the Aria, although followers of Anneh shunned them. They refer to Aria using a derogatory term, the fae. Aria generally do not live as long as Men, and are much taller.

Unseelie - Humanoids who were once Aria, forced to flee underground when Men sought to persecute the followers of Dawn. Unable to see Dawn's sunlight, Unseelie became short and stunted. Their skin hair became pale, almost white. Their ears are smaller than Aria, and have a different curvature. Quick and agile, Unseelie are known for their uncanny reflexes. Battling the horrors of the underground, they built the Imperious and fought to defend it.

The Imperious - A network of forts, towns, and training grounds, the Imperious was a social achievement of the Unseelie. Recently, it collapse after a relentless attack by the combined powers of wicked races and monsters.

Tylogonus - Created by the god Termanis. They are a race of spider monsters belonging to a species called Arachne, the Tylogonus defended Deepsol when the Illex nearly destroyed the city. While Deepsol was safe from the underground, the Tylogonus demanded in return Man's ability to speak and listen to Anneh. With Men of their choosing, the Tylogonus constructed a council to govern Deepsol and maintain order within the city while the Tylogonus maintained their presence at Deepsol's borders.

Arachne - A species of large, intelligent, insectoied creatures, mostly living in forests.

Illex - Created by the god Bies. They are a race of intelligent, yet savage ocean spawn resembling giant squid who can move around on land. Few humanoids have ever seen them and many believe Illex only exist in myths and stories. Illex are known for manufacturing powerful Artifacts.

Artifacts - Weapons and tools made from parts of living creatures, which infuses the magic power of that particular creature's God. The creature or its parts must be living to make a working Artifact. To make an artifact, an individual or a group must be able to speak and draw power from its own God. Without the ability to speak to Anneh, Men cannot create Artifacts. Unseelie, who follow Dawn, cannot create Artifacts as powerful as the Illex, because Dawn is not their true original god.

The Long Charge - When the Unseelie Imperious fell, the race fled to the Grand Stair, hoping to pass through Deepsol to escape back to the surface of Ilum. Not wanting to compromise Deepsol's security, the Council denied them passage. Not to be hindered by Deepsol's lack of diplomacy, the Unseelie made an unsuccessful attempt to force their way through the city. Defeated, they settled around the Grand Stair, living off the meager security provided by the patrolling Tylogonus.

The Unseelie Revolution - An uprising of the Unseelie several years after the Long Charge to invade and take over Deepsol.

Synopsis:

A thief, good-hearted but a drunkard, experiences a dramatic life change after unexpectedly acquiring a daughter.

My Notes:

A long time ago I was a member of a roleplay guild in Ultima Online. I created many characters, but one of them stood out among the rest. I started the character with one simple mindframe, and he turned out to be the most complex, fascinating character I had ever designed. Once I got the feel of the role, it took on a life of its own, and every detail about his personality unfolded regardless of what intentions I had for him. I'm not sure where it all came from, but it was the character that told me this story. I had very little to do with writing any of it.

The World:

As this story takes place in the pre-designed world of Ultima, there are a few words which may be confusing. Although their precise meaning is made fairly obvious through context, I'll define them anyway.

Avatar - The idol of the Avatari faith (much liked Christianity's God). Referred to as both "Avatar" and "the Avatar." Put concisely, he was once a man. After committing great acts of good and slaying the evil god known as the Guardian, he ascended into Godhood himself (according to believers).

Yew - The town in which the characters reside. Yew is heavily forested, and named for its famous, enormous yew trees. Yew is also renowned for its borderline-corrupt militia of guardsmen. The Yew militia has been seen to be racist, heartless, and are infamous witch-haters.

Britain - A city close to Yew, which serves as a center of commerce and also Lord British's home.

Lord British - The benevolent ruler of Britannia.

Britannia - The name of the continent.

Reaper - A large, violent creature with the deceiving appearance of a tree. Rooted to the ground and unable to move, it makes up for its immobilization by being capable of magic.
