For You

Why does your smile fade when you look at me? Is it because you're thinking of her, the one just out of reach? At one point, I actually thought that you loved me. That you needed me. How naive. It hurts. It hurts to know that when we kiss, you feel her lips. When you look into my eyes, you see hers. When you touch me, you feel her body. When I whisper your name, you hear her voice. But more than that... It hurts to know that when you smile, you smile for her, and for her alone. For her, your heart beats. For her, you would give anything. Perhaps the saddest thing in all of this though... When we kiss, I feel loved. When you look into my eyes, all of my reason drowns in their blue depths. When you touch me, I feel that I am the only girl in the world for you. When you whisper my name, I am needed... And it hurts, because when I smile, I smile for you, and for you alone. For you, my heart beats. For you, I would give anything. That's why...when your smile fades...mine will stay, in all of its pained, naive beauty... Because I smile for you.

WOW!! This is very powerful, I love it. The first line sets the tone perfectly, and I love the metaphor at line 7. Fantastic +1

This is a very beautiful piece. An old theme, but presented wonderfully, and all the emotion is there. I very much dig it.

I don't really have anything to say, but comments 'speak' louder than votes and I liked this piece a lot. Everything that inthecafeteria had said.
