untitled

Another Saturday night, exactly the same as all the others, beer, beer, loud music, beer, hey want another beer? Sure, why not. After this cigarette. Can I have one too? Sure, man, here you go, enjoy. And repeat until sunrise. Always the same, not at all fun anymore. Predictable to the extreme. Yet here we go again, some tent, or barn, or construction hall, or school gym, or youth center, somewhere so local only we are the strangers. Hit the bar before anything else. Light a cigarette. Kill some brain cells. Do the yeti, or the dishwasher, or the cube. Do it for shits and giggles. Just don't do it outside of the clique, for fuck's sake. Dude, check out those hotties over there! What? Whatever. Excuse me, coming through. Drink another beer, spill half of it, be pissed about it for exactly the time it takes to down the rest of the fake plastic cup, three seconds. Go get another one. You guys anything? Up goes one more cigarette. Still got over half a pack, we're cool, we're cool. Do the “point to the lord”. Do the panhandler. Do the towel. Laugh. Crap, sorry about that, let's get you another one. Move through the crowd like a sliding puzzle, get out for a while, fresh air, cold air, nothing to see here, stumble back into the puzzle. Locate the others, screw it, get another beer, thirsty, thirsty, drunk. What's that song? Forget about it. What time is it, three? Sooner, later? Sooner or later... Doesn't matter, still enough money for more beer. Never enough beer. Or shake things up a little, get some vodka, vodka is good. Just don't mix it with beer, that'll kill you, even then, so what, rock on. Crowd's thinning out. That late already? Shit alright. Go for more beer while you still can. Anyone else? Or a cigarette, it's been about thirty minutes, damn it, who here cares one bit? Time to go? Time to go. Who's driving? Oh yeah right. Keys, guys. Sure. Later.

Man, there seems to be a pretty big boom of downer pieces lately.

Nevertheless, I like this one. I think the title really helped that along [I liked it before I really started reading it]. And while it's an already widely-used message, it's displayed in something of an original fashion. I like how natural you made the thoughts/monologue-ish thing flow.

Well I didn't think of being dark and gloomy or whatever. This was just a stream of consciousness exercise, written in about 10 to 15 minutes and posted unedited. I came up with the title a few days ago, and the two just fell together like puzzle pieces. And if it appears a "downer piece", then it might say something about my spirit, I suppose. Glad you enjoyed it, too!

I liked the puzzle imagery...and this piece was different. It reminded me of the people at the bar I used to work at. I like it. +1.

ok. so here's the plan.

you drive. i'll control the radio. we'll go dancing somewhere where we know no one and where we can be crazy and they can be creeped out by our antics. then we go home and sleep and dream evanescent things and wait for the next time it rains.

Wow, I should check my comments more often, I'm missing out on XKCD-ish propositions here. And sadly, no matter how many times I tell myself "no one knows you here, let's see how far you can go with this", I end up doing nothing much... Unless it's just me on my own, or with a partner in crime. And those are hard to come by for me, it seems.

So okay, yeah! *starts the car*
