untitled
Intoxicated with insanity,
the coffee-driven senior citizens
chatted up on what was going down.
All the while,
one daring individual
had left the table
to show off
his new,
pin-striped
portable walker.
“Look at me!” he cried.
“I’m the king of the world!”
Suddenly, his heart gave out,
and he died.

Ah, death humor.
I'm not entirely sure how to interpret this, but I like to think that it has something to do with ignoring fate, or simply fate having a sense of humor.
I'm honestly not sure about that, but I'm rather certain it deserves a plus one
Actually, it's sort of a cynical kind of poem.
Originally, the dying part wasn't included in the poem and it was merely added after receiving some critique from my classmates that stated it felt "unfinished."
Thus, I added the last part which is basically a cheeky response from me summing up the meaning behind the poem: "It doesn't matter."
I like your interpretations as well, though. Afterall that's the great thing about poetry, due to its vagueness, it doesn't have just one "interpretation."

Hey, mate, you don't have to explain yourself. I think I've just found my new favorite (sorry, cafeteria :P)
I know I don't have to explain myself. I just like to. :P I also like to think my explanation of my poem adds to the interpretation. (Sorry, explaining myself again. XD)

I'm surprised this poem has so many positive votes. I suspect it is because you declared your cynicism before anyone could accuse you of such :p
I just like the idea of cheeky old men showing off pinstriped walkers. Maybe dapper would be a better adjective. I love that word. Dapper old men showing off for the ladies.
