Except not really...

A revelation, perhaps.
Only in the sense that I didn't really understand it before now. It wasn't a sudden thing, though. Or maybe it was, but it just took several weeks to accumulate the strength to suddenly punch me in the face with the force of a trainwreck falling from a tall building.
I can't easily picture that...
But yeah, a revelation. I was only half listening to Teryl, but I could hear the words, even understand the meaning behind each one, only they were separated. Jumbled and dispersed. As I heard and recognized each, they flitted away and hid somewhere. I'd have to search for them later.
And yet she continued talking. I was amazed, and a bit startled. The words were gone. There was little more than blank, surfaceless air escaping her mouth, yet she continued, possibly more animatedly than before. I knew there was something she was really excited about telling me. This was something big and I needed to hear it, but little did she know she wasn't making a sound. I didn't know how to tell her.
So I shook her.
It must have startled her a bit, but there was nothing else I could think of to do. It wasn't all that hard. I just needed her to somehow catch on to what was going on.
"What was that all about?" she asked.
Oh good.
Revelation? Oh, I'm sorry, I was tired...
