untitled

This is the bit of the world that you can see right now. Look to your right and you'll see a bit more, but still not much. Nothing to base any real assumptions off of, anyway. Now look back at the screen.

No cheating.

This, that you're looking at is only a fraction of the world. A corner, if you will. Let's say it's the upper left-hand corner of the square, two-dimensional object that is every single thing in the world. It's not very big.

The corner, I mean. The whole square's pretty big. In comparison, anyway.

Now, visualize this, then take some scissors and cut out this sqare, and just look at only it. Only it and nothing else. The world is gone, the humongous square is gone, the scissors are gone. Only this square remains. It may not be a perfect square, or even a flat square.

I'll understand if it's a little wrinkled.

Now take it in your hands. Take it and look at it all over. Get to know it real well. Remember every inch, every letter, every mark, every coffee stain, ink blot, slight tear.

Everything.

Now take it and fold it. Not just however, but try to make it into a nice, aerodynamic paper airplane. Maybe even with a little tail that sticks up on the back. I'm not sure what that does, but it certainly looks nice. Now, take it into one hand.

Keep looking directly at it.

Now throw it. Not hard, but with enough push to get it going real good. The wind's about right, so it should be fine. Keep watching it. It should still be going. Keep watching until it fades from view. Then just close your eyes.

Close your eyes and remember. Every inch, every letter, every mark. Remember it all and keep it safe.

Then start on the next one.

Four others like this.

Deep piece, man. I really dig how it has an ambient vibe to it. The calm direction in which you lead is very neat and the bit of humour on the detail of the "paper plane" is awesome. Keeps everything from being too tense, I think.

Again, great work, yo.

reminds me of the universe ... in a self-deprecating kind of way
