The Truth [1]
untitled
[Constructive criticism encouraged]
After you've been running for so long, things start to get distorted. The floor suddenly seems heavier, things start to get a little slower, and the colours fade.
This is how she felt. She couldn't remember feeling any other way. It wasn't that her life had worsened, but that her view had clarified, and she saw the truth. You couldn't deny it, once you realised. You could ignore it, you could try to escape, but when you came back it would be waiting for you. If you were to slice away these walls, they'd be just as grey on the inside. You could tear the whole building down, you could blow it up, you could dismantle it brick by brick and put it back in a different order, but it would still be the same.
"Life is pointless,"
Alice wasn't sure what the conversation had been about, but she caught this part, and smiled.
"It isn't!"
"It is, life is pointless."
A few guys started started discussing her point, agreeing.
Alice scrawled down `Nihilism is fashionable` in her notebook, still smiling.
"No its not, don't say stuff like that..."
Alice felt a wave of anger pass over her. It was so awful that people couldn't bear to even consider the truth, let alone confront it. Even those discussing it right now wouldn't take it on board. They'd dismiss it as... too depressing to be real. That was the attitude people seemed to have, too depressing to be real.
She felt like smashing something, in a futile attempt to make this end. As if she could just pick up a chair and throw it into the wall, and it'd make a difference.
But it wouldn't. It might make a dent, but that dent would be filled in and painted over in the end. Just as it was meant to be.
So she picked up her things and left, to a room just the same as the rest.

There's a lot of truth in this. And I like it a lot. I also can't think of anything constructive...
I would like to see this continued though.
Wow. It's like you've sat in on one of my university lectures. Except I'm usually the one that argues that nihilism in a self-indulgent blanket for those that don't have the willpower to take matters into their own hands!!! BWAHAHAAA!!!!
And then my friends remind me that just because I'm an anarchist doesn't mean everyone else is self-indulgent... +1
I don't like admiting to this kind of thing, but it rather hard for me to faollow what you were saying.
Not quite! One more and it would be (you know you want to). This is one of the five pieces ever to receive a (genuine) minus 2 though.
I don't know if you'll care, but today, on my English notebook, I wrote "Nihilism is fashionable". I quoted you. Yay!
I actually quite like this. It seems different to me. The quote "Nihilism is fashionable" is really cool.
