'Course I'm dead. I woke up three days ago, and I saw this light. This pure, white light seemed to pull me from my sleep and my life and my thoughts. That's when I knew it.
You installed a skylight, remember? You always used to complain about how you were never able to catch the sunrise. I wanted to sleep in. You got your chance three days ago when you put a saw to the roof. Free. Dom. Your exact words. Ring a bell?
No. The dead don't remember. Remember?
No, I mean -- what I - then why th' hell you talking to a stranger?
Well, you've been walking into what looks to be my house every morning at nine, slapping me and shaking me and telling me to snap out of it, so I assumed that you -- you aren't a dominatrix, are you? Oh- oh God, don't tell me I was the S&M type while I was alive. I hate those guys.

the end was good/bad. Good because it showed motives etc, some humor. Bad because if you had left it floating a very different feeling would have happened. But I think you made the right call (if there is such a thing). Definitely would like to read more, supposing this was a novel or some such.
