Café Cercle De La Vie
Introduction
Greetings, this is the equivalent to the appetizer you read on the inside covers of a book before actually getting down to it. Café Cercle De La Vie is the latest story project I’m embarking on; I do hope you enjoy it. Since I can’t get away with just that under the title of an introduction, here I go; this series is about the lives and different backgrounds of both the staff and customers of a café called Cercle De La Vie. You might hate it; you might find it as exciting as watching grass grow. The few things I can promise you is you definitely won’t find sparkly vampires here, and I’m not sending you on a journey of teenage angst complete with bikinis and kissing suntanned pigs.
Meet Jour Michel, owner and chef of Café Cercle De La Vie ; eccentric, unfathomable but always around for some hot cocoa. On an unexplainable mission to make the café as unnoticeable as possible, all first-time customers are greeted with an honest, “Allez! Aux armes, les hommes!” But all said and done, monkeys are welcome; payments by chocolate-coated coffee beans are encouraged, and all wastage is carried out with the customer, one way or another. “Ce la vie, Monsieur,” as the standard staff mantra to any complaint goes, “What kind of idiot are you?”
