Things fall apart.

Things fall apart.
Drug addicts relapse
As crumbling foundations have; our families collapse.
Challenging your patience,
Like the dripping of a tap
Drip drop drip drop, someone’s gonna’ snap.
Muscles over-tense then cramp,
Laughter slowly moulds,
As motivation curdles and our steady minds unfold.
Fairy tales end.
Faith cannot breathe.
Rodent plants suffocate our germinating seeds.
Icebergs and glaciers melt,
Bigots often travel.
A tribe of Spartans can’t fight age, and so our yarns of hope unravels.
Therapists and clowns cry,
Candles always dim.
Thread unwinds the noose to slowly loosen faith in Him.
Tabloids date and paper shreds,
Flowers tend to wilt.
Priests and nuns begrudge and judge and drinks are sometimes spilt.
Petals fall, moth eaten
At the feet of damp bark
As leaves are plucked through winter- grief will rot our hearts.
Like overpopulated species
That soon become extinct;
Socks that stretch in tumble dryers, or delicates that shrink-
-‘Time’ is our world’s guarantee
And when it runs out,
Things fall apart. Save time, and just get out.

the third to last and last stanzas have rhythms that vary enough from the rest of the poem to jar the reader out of it, which is a pity, because the majority of it is enchanting.
