Encore

Exposition:
Stepping from the shower,
faced with a foggy form in the mirror,
smeared with condensation.
Hands draw another to replace the face.
Conflict:
Finger tips tug at cuticles
the skin gives, slipping off like opera gloves
all the way up to elbows.
The now-naked phalanges unbutton the torso
and shrug off the shoulders.
Hips unzip and are kicked off
a tangle of flesh on the floor
next to a pair of soles.
Finale:
The mirror has cleared revealing
all— the delicate intricacies
of humanity.
Fragile candle.
Blaring sun.
Lips pull back like curtains,
rows of teeth applauding.
Eyes laugh and cry, “Encore!”
The truly naked are not ashamed.
