I've been underground
Talking to the kids who know me
Yeah, they're ultrasound
And they lived in this life before me
Well it's better the devil you know
He'll choke you someday
But you can put on a show
Like he's your brother today
I've been drinking ditchwater and lime
And I'm so high, so high
I didn't start this for a good time
But I swear I don't want to die
And this is how the needle feels
And this is what the rush is like
And this is where I'm coming down
This is the last day of my life
And god, this city in the spring
Is a miracle
I wouldn't leave for anything
Human or chemical
I fucking love this city
I love the sun on Granville Street
I love the hookers in the west end
I just want to sleep
Yeah, it's better the devil you know
Those kids know his ways
They said, fight when you have to
But not today
Well, who's going to drive you home?
And who's going to make you stop?
And who's your brother really?
And who the hell are you?
And this is how the needle feels
And this is what the rush is like
And this is where I'm coming down
This is the last day of my life
Two others like this.

I really dig this... I can picture this guy strung out of his mind...
and i can imagine the heavy bass-line and almost rockabilly guitar on top of guttural vocals that trail off when he sings about getting high and the needle and such... good stuff
My favourite parts, for what it's worth, are about the city.
I can't justify that rationally, they just got the most emotional response. The whole thing is beautifully written.
Thanks, guest, whoever you are. I like the parts about the city too. I was trying to put across an incredibly deep emotion, deeper than anything you should really feel about something as abstract as a city. I think it kind of worked...
