A dollar for rice and beans will feed a mouse or man
but we believe in excess, isn't life in excess grand?
Do you feel better clothed in ignorance
to the manufacturer of yer blouse-
a 12 year old whose trash can doubles as her house.
We close our eyes and stay inside
won't let the truth shine in.
We flaunt our "bill of rights"
fly high, the one and only, stars and stripes.
And smile like we've seen freedom, as if it comes with out a price.
Prescribe yourself another pill, self medicate mistakes.
Failures just dissolved like our government's ok.
Sign in ink on the dotted line, collect yer paycheck every other week
once they've taken half yer earnings, go cash it at the bank.
Examine where you've been and what you've done.
Times are changing but we're no better off than 'nam.
Just take one look at the evening news, seems bad enough and it's only half the truth
Like where do your taxes really go?
We stay silent, like we don't even have the right to know.
And when the kids speak out it's frowned upon
Like they want us to think for ourselves, as long as we chose what they've been thinking all along.
Then the president comes on tv, spewing the typical lies
about building a better nation, all their plans to keep us in line.
Preaching individuality as long as yer politically correct.
Am I correct in politically thinking our country builds nothing but debt?
We're all fine here if you got cash for gas but what about Iraq?
The middle east wasn't perfect before but now they got bush on their ass.
Two others like this.

Finally! Someone who's not writing about the typical "my-life-is-a-mess-i'll-kill-myself" poem. Good job, dude.
