Petty Crime

Lets lynch each thought and wrap with wire Weak culprits bathing in blue fire, Our guiltless thoughts we treat like crimes Deterring lips I thought were mine And now, Now we lie in separate chambers, Our secrets on death row. Protection is their first concern Protecting who? I still don’t know. Captured - left in dungeons Sob feelings, Whisp’ring blind beliefs, Such awfully unkind beliefs They kick at walls or softly cry And soon, My fingers slip between the bars To burn cool handprints down your spine For all the words I need to scream Are proving difficult to find But our skin can play nice notes With bright keys, Ropes And darker jokes They unlock hungry eyes Lets watch confused clouds in the sky As patchworks of our dreams subside Tonight love, You look so divine I think we’ll make it worse this time. But lets say, We’ll make it work this time Heartbreak stands before the court The jury silenced: listen, distraught, To the prisoners, hands intertwined Awaiting death row. And for what reason? Now we know, But it all just seems like petty crime.
