Take three steps backwards and we were laughing,
Together oblivious to reality.
We couldn't have seen it happening,
it hit us all at once.
My laughter was canned,
You rarely laughed at all,
Sure, you helped it stand,
And we both saw it fall.
Took three steps forward and here we are silenced,
Holding back our tongues.
Nothing much left now but quiet,
and if you like it this way, then so it is.
