"What the hell kind of music is that?", Brett asked, not really annoyed, but definitely not sincerely interested either.

"You wouldn't know it..." Evan swerved around his younger brother's question, and ignored his hautain huffs in favor of his life on his computer screen.

"You listen to some weird shit, you know.", Brett continued, momentarily looking up from the tv screen that ate nearly all of his attention, fed through the remote of an ancient game console, a relic from happier times when they could've still passed as family. Both brothers knew they hadn't been family in what may have been years; only hours before had they found each other again, and their contact had quickly taken the rhythm of a metronome gone haywire: amicable and indeed brotherly the one moment, and distant or downright hostile the next.

But the timeless “forever young”, run-down living room of Evan's typical bachelor pad – he knew he could never throw away the backwards-counting clock some lost friend had given him for his birthday so many years ago – had a more soothing effect than the streets they had found themselves and each other on some hours ago: neither was much bothered by the noises coming from the other's activities.

"Hey, remind me why you got to have the Playstation again?"

Brett carelessly tossed the aged remote onto the shoddy coffee table. It could barely support the sudden weight.

"I don't know, it was just laying around at mom's, and nobody was around to claim it, so I did..."

"I see how you work... Wait till I'm out of the picture and then capture all my stuff, right?"

"Yeah. That's exactly what I'm about. Geez Brett. Welcome back.”

I love these types of pieces. It's just a picture, and painting a good picture like this is a very difficult thing to do. I really really like this. You got the atmosphere absolutely perfect. You were right to put this in the under appreciated thread +1

I'm not sure about the atmosphere I think I'm just not in the best mood haha This is good writing though It does replicate the sibling relationship pretty much the way my brothers are Plus one for the detail :)
