The assignment was to create a new form of poetry. So this is mine. A 'Sirene' or little song that relies heavily on alliteration and sound repetition.

The last letter of the first line ("d") becomes the alliteration in line 2. The last 'dominating' sound of line 2 becomes the repeated sound in line 3 and so forth.

Autumn Moon

Smoldering gold goes cold

down in the dark heavy with death.

Her breath is kept deep in her chest.

Too long she’s wept. Tonight she’s tired.

Smoldering gold goes cold,

the day is dim and dying.

The crow sings and brings on wings the moon.

Night never leaves her now.

Smoldering gold goes cold

as she drinks sweet drops of doom.

“La Lune!” She sings a tune of gloom

in the morning mourning the moon.

Smoldering gold goes cold.

I like this at first sight. Not sure if I will change my mind tomorrow, I'll let you know.
