Moments and Memories
(A SoraxNamine` Fanfic. <3)
Namine sat staring out her window into the cold night. She quickly crossed to it, pressing her fingertips lightly to the cold glass, her expression distant. A small bit of golden hair fell over her shoulder and she swiped it behind her ear almost unconsciously. Fog formed on the window as the cold glass seeped the warmth from her hand. She looked out at the night sky, then quickly decided that that was where she wanted to be. Out in the cold night, shivering and looking at the stars, so infinitely high above her in the dark oblivion of shadows that encased them. Forget Marluxia. She would not play his puppet any longer and would not stay in this room simply because he wanted her to. No...She was going outside.
She sat on the roof of the building, on one of the many high parapets of the Castle Oblivion, her legs swinging in the cold, empty air off the side of the roof. She smiled, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. There was a whisper of movement behind her and smiled more brightly, keeping her eyes closed and not turning.
"Hello, Sora."
Her voice was soft, and she turned to face the brunette who, even in more clothes than she, was shivering. He was also alone. He rubbed the back of his head and smiled, embarrassed, then moved to join her on the edge of the roof. "Hi Namine. Aren't you cold?" He said through chattering teeth, looking at her like she was insane. She laughed softly, a small, tinkling sound, like bells.
"Not really. It's very pleasant out here. It's not many days that I get the chance to experience the weather..." Her voice trailed off sadly, and Sora placed one of his hands on hers without thinking. She looked up at him, a slightly surprised expression on her face. He quickly removed the hand, flushing and mumbling an apology.
She was still for a moment, then slowly reached out and folded her hand over his, warmth creeping to her cheeks. She smiled shyly at him and he looked at her in amazement. Then he smiled and looked up at the sky. She scooted closer to him, for warmth, she told herself. But something was stirring in her chest, something warm and pleasant, something she had not felt before...
Sora wrapped an arm around her shoulders protectively. She sighed softly and laid her head on his chest, blushing slightly. He smiled tenderly looking down at her, then once more turned his face to the sky, murmuring softly, "Namine...I want this night to last forever..."
Her voice was soft and sleepy. "Silly...nothing lasts forever. Things slip away, no matter how hard you try to hold on to them...Days, years, moments, memories..."
He looked down at her, a little sadly and she opened her eyes, smiling gently. "But we can always take advantage of now...no matter what, no matter what happens after this, or what has happened before, there is always this one single moment...and it's really the only thing we can control...this one moment..." She closed her eyes again, her face still slightly tilted towards his.
He flushed, and under the pale light of the heart-shaped moon, he dipped his head and pressed his lips softly to hers, in a sweet, gentle kiss.
She sighed softly and smiled, leaning against him and wrapping an arm loosely around him. He wrapped both his arms around her and pulled her close.
And for that one night, that one moment, that one memory that would last a lifetime...
He held her.
