Established in 1983 by L. Ron Hubbard expressly for the aspiring writer, Writers of the Future has become the most respected and significant forum for new talent in all aspects of speculative fiction.

I'll have a couple more competitions for UK-based writers when I can be bothered to fetch them from my room >_> Soooon.

Yeah!  Robert A. Heinlein is usualy credited with the term, from his 1948 essay "On Writing of Speculative Fiction."   It is meant only to refer to science fiction, and Heinlein stated explicitly that it does not also refer to fantasy works.  DUH

I should get bonus points for not having had to look that up.   Admittedly, that's only because I had to write a paper on it a while back, but prior wikipedia experience counts as knowledge, right?

I knew it because I've read everything Heinlein has ever written or had written about him, so I can confirm that the Clash is correct.

BRINGING IT BACK.

Basically, a poetry chapbook competition.  The site is a little goofy, but I figure that makes it like home, right?
