Writing Exercises
« on: November 24, 2006, 11:33:13 am »
I know there's at least one person here who has their hands on a bunch of writing exercises. I also know that the writing prompt hasn't changed in quite a while. If you have any ideas for writing prompts/exercises to be put on the front page, post them here.

Have you guys been to Daydreaming on Paper? I love that site. It helps promote journal writing. They have a prompt section.
www.daydreamingonpaper.com

There are also some exercises that I use to help me when I want/need to write things:

New Year's Resolutions for Writers: http://fictionwriting.about.com/od/writingexercises/tp/resolutions.htm
Making Up Metaphors: http://fictionwriting.about.com/od/writingexercises/qt/metaphorex.htm
Other Exercises & Advice from About.com: http://fictionwriting.about.com/od/writingexercises/Writing_Exercises_Advice_Creative_Writing_Exercises_and_Advice.htm

I also really like this lady's writing exercises. They make you think.

the random question game often helps with poetry... especially if you don't want to write about yourself or if you need comparisons....
English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark allies, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.
