I've read that! I've also read Evasion and Off The Map, both of which are awesome (and more uplifting than DOWNOL).

A book detailing various examples of Conceptual Art.

I need to get back into some fiction.

The Red and the Black by Stendhal


I'm nearly finished, and I'm still not convinced that this book has a plot.  Which isn't to say it's bad.  It's actually really, really good.  The main character, Julien Sorel, is complex and interesting.  Multi-faceted.  But I feel like I'm reading a biography, rather than a story.  Oh well, I still like it.  Haha.

See, I saw a new post in this thread in my list-of-new-posts RSS feed, and then looked up the thread and saw many responses that I did not notice earlier, despite having gone through the list.

Then I realised what the title was, and that I usually completely ignore the What are you listening to RIGHT NOW????!!! thread, so... yeah... unfortunate.

One of my absolute favorite books EVER.



They're making a movie of it...with Johnny Depp as Heathcliff and Angelina Jolie as Cathy.  Okay, I think Johnny Depp can pull off Heathcliff.  He's a little old, but he's also very pretty so we'll forgive him.  Haha.  But Angelina Jolie as Cathy?  Awful!  Terrible!  Yuckkk.  I like Angelina Jolie, for the most part.  She's done some bad work and some good work, like most people.  But I honestly believe that she'll be a horrible Cathy.  She just doesn't...fit.  Guh.  I can't explain why, she just doesn't suit that role at alllllll.

I'm not a big fan of the 1939 version with Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon, either.  Deviates too much from the book.  I'm a big book purist when it comes to movie adaptions.
