Oh, jeez ... so many.
My favorite book of all time is Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder. Based on that, one can infer that I like both Bertrand Russell and Lewis Carroll. From that dichotomy, I can go on to discuss St. Augustine and Nietzsche on one end, and Edgar Allen Poe and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle on the other side. Those genres recombined to influence modern sci-fi and fantasy (not the crappy kind, either -- I'm talking Arthur C. Clarke, Kurt Vonnegut, H.G. Wells, Ray Bradbury, all of our century's most incredible short fiction authors). Also, while I don't really consider myself a fantasy fan (my first fantasy book was The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett, who I found by way of Douglas Adams, so it's only for the sake of British humor that I could stand it at all to begin with), I do enjoy reading things like Piers Anthony and Terry Brooks (and even the occasional Mercedes Lackey ... it's like cotton candy for the brain). Tragically, I'm named after Tanith Lee, who wrote one good book (The Silver Metal Lover) and about six zillion really, really crappy fantasy/horror works.
I've also read Animorphs religiously since #2 - The Visitor came out in bookstores. I collected every single book in the series, reread them over the years, and finally gave all of them away to a new young reader about a week ago. I STILL LOVE ANIMORPHS.
... that's all I can think of right now.
